March 28th–deadline for baseball/softball signup

Crafts for the very young-Norman Public Library 3/21/08

On Friday from 9:30-11am Norman Public Library is having “Crafts for the Very Young”. It’s a come and go thing so you don’t have to be there the entire time. We went in February for the Valentine’s crafts and it was really fun. Registration is not required so if you need something to do Friday morning you can just head on over.

Norman’s “Best” Easter Egg Hunt 3/14/08

Yay! Since I have to miss the Easter egg hunt at Sam Noble today, I am super excited to hear that I haven’t missed Norman’s Easter egg hunt. It’s being held on Friday evening at Andrews Park. Activities start at 5 and the hunt starts at 6:30. There will be Easter Bunny pictures, balloons, t-shirts, moon bounces, and more according to Norman’s website. It’s for kids 8 and under.

Andrews Park is located at 201 W. Daws in Norman.

Eggstravaganza at SNMONH 3/12/08

Today from 4-7pm, The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History and the University of Oklahoma J.C. Penney Leadership Program are hosting an Eggstravanza at the museum. There will be free admission to the museum, a giant Easter egg hunt on the front lawn (4,000 eggs, people!), a moonwalk, games, and pictures with a bunny (well, they say the bunny but I’m not sure if that means a real bunny or the Easter bunny). The event is aimed at kids aged pre-k to 5th grade. The egg hunt starts at 6:30.

SNMONH is located at 2401 Chautauqua Avenue in Norman.

Toddler Time at Sam Noble Museum

Over the break I went to the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History and visited the Discovery Room. My toddler had so much fun playing with the neat toys and looking in the microscope, I wanted to remind you about Toddler Time at the Discovery Room. Right now it’s being held every Friday afternoon from 3-4 pm and the first and third Saturday of the month from 10:30-11:30 am. It’s really fun for the little ones and makes the museum a little more accessible to them. The Discovery Room staff brings out a bunch of neat educational toys (well, some aren’t so educational but they are fun and aren’t full of lead!) and sets up exploration stations designed for kids 18 months to 3 years. It’s very cute stuff and a blast for everyone.

Kindermusik Demo Days 1/16-1/17

I’m back! I took a little posting hiatus while relaxing over the winter break but now I’m ready to resume telling you about all the fun stuff to do in Norman. I’ll start with an activity I plan on attending next week. Next Thursday I’m loading the baby up to go to a Kindermusik preview class at Guiltner Creative Studios. The preview class is a great way to try out Kindermusik before making a semester-long commitment. There are classes for kids from birth to five years and singing and dancing and instrument playing in all of them. Looks like fun!

Attend a free class with your child, and experience what Kindermusik is all about! We will be singing, dancing, playing instruments, learning about musical concepts, making friends, and having a great time.

Gymboree Pajama Party 12/13

Tonight from 6-8 pm Gymboree Play and Music of Norman will host an open house pajama party. The event is open to the public and you do not have to be a member to participate.

From an email I received yesterday:
Thursday, December 13th (6:00-8pm) will be a cozy evening
of holiday fun and education for parents and families with children
from birth through age 5. The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural
History will be on site providing hands-on learning about animals and
their winter survival techniques. Dishin’ It Up of Norman will provide
warm and yummy treats for tummies. This free Open House also features
gym play, winter crafts, prizes, and lots of shopping specials. All
Gymboree toys are now 40% off for holiday shopping. Families are asked
to bring a donation for the Women’s Resource Center of Norman. Needed
donation items include: batteries, bath towels, mascara, socks, phone

NPL Open House 12/07

Tonight Norman Public Library is hosting a holiday open house and annual Sing-Along. Obviously there will be singing (by the Spirit of Oklahoma Show Chorus and Norman Singers). There will also be crafts for the kids, refreshments, and, of course, Santa. It’s from 7-8:30 with the Sing-Along starting at 7:30 at the Norman Public Library located at 225 North Webster.
